‘Proud Colours’ in Montreal’s Village.

One of my first collaborations in Montreal was with Daily Tour Les Jours. I was part of the wonderful team working on the design and art direction of this beautiful project that weaves over 35 pride flags together displayed on more than 150 tubular posters that went up on St. Catherine Street.

The tubular posters create a timeline that starts with the “Original Pride flag” by Gilbert Baker from 1978 and, transitions from one year to the next until it reaches the “Progress Pride Flag” by Daniel Quasar from 2020.

Considering the discriminations the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is facing, this timeline of the sexual and gender diversity flags, fluid and in movement, hopes to pay tribute to all the nuances in the Village. For those who don’t see themselves represented yet, we consciously left certain tubulars blank to inspire the emergence of new colours.

A big thank you to Village Montreal’s team for their trust.
